TATIANA SANTO DOMINGO: THE STORY OF HER WEDDING GOWN

A few weeks ago in Monte Carlo, Tatiana Santo Domingo, the young Colombian heiress, and designer and co-founder of the ethical brand Muzungu Sisters, married Andrea Casiraghi, second in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne.

For the civil ceremony, Tatiana chose Missoni: a bespoke dress with a fan collar and three-quarter-length sleeves, embroidered in raffia and silk thread, and with a long flowing skirt with a macramé effect.
After the ceremony, Tatiana replaced her garland of fresh flowers with a headband embroidered with pearls and raffia.

We decided to follow her wedding gown, and we did this to tell you the short story that brought it from the Missoni atelier to Monaco. And, along with this, we wanted to recount the reverse journey Tatiana made to Sumirago – location of the Missoni headquarters – to “discover” it.

The activity of exploration is not new to the bride. In fact, in Swahili “muzungu” means “traveller”, and the idea behind the brand –with which Missoni has collaborated in the past to distribute the “CB Made in Italy” handmade loafers –is the online promotion of top-quality artisanal products discovered around the world. It is research akin to the travels  described by José Saramago: “the journey never ends”.
