The Life of Lamé
Would Missoni have shot to its stratospheric heights of fame so quickly were it not for those lamé blouses strutting down the runway under the bright lights of the Palazzo Pitti in the Spring of 1967? Missoni Moments Making Magic

Moda. Made in Italy

The “Moda. Made in Italy” exhibition taking place right now at the Mode Museum of Hasselt in Belgium, will continue until February 2014 and explores Italian fashion and its development into the important craft industry it is today.

This extraordinary costume show is a thorough documentation of the complex history of fashion in Italy and includes some unique archival material of the traditional fashion house Missoni (in the gallery, two Missoni outfits from 1973 and 1966), illustrating its influence in the creation of the Italian style, especially in the knitwear area.

The Missoni family business, established in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, played an important role in modernizing the traditional image of knitwear, mainly by combining traditional craftsmanship and new technology, while introducing unusual rich abstract and geometrical patterns into knitwear and changing its image forever.
An exhibition that is not to be missed.
