Missoni Moments Now On

Missoni in Hong Kong

With Art Basel, Hong Kong is at its most exciting this time of the year. A report by Carolina Gawronski

Teresa Maccapani Missoni and Ottavio jr Missoni – the grandchildren of Missoni founders Ottavio and Rosita – are currently in Hong Kong; they have timed their visit perfectly.

To celebrate their arrival a cocktail was held at the Missoni boutique located at Elements, the ultra modern luxury mall in TST – an area known for its large clean streets and enormous storefronts – the shop emanates a homey and family feel, just as Teresa and Ottavio do.

The cocktail was followed by a Chinese lunch organized by HSBC at Kowloon Tang, the chic restaurant created by Hong Kong’s finest David Tang. Over delicious local food, the two cousins spoke to an intimate crowd. As Teresa and Ottavio belong to the family’s third generation, questions were asked about the pressures and responsibilities of carrying the Missoni name.

The hosts entertained the audience by sharing personal stories of the family and their approach to the business. Teresa noted the importance of the number three in the family – Rosita and Ottavio have had three children who each had three children – whilst Ottavio explained the elaborate process behind the production of Missoni fabrics.
