Missoni Moments Making Magic

Digital/Artisanal

Nothing is more ubiquitous than social networking today. You'll hear, on occasion, some person boasting about not using them, and my automatic reply is always, “and... you're proud of that?” It's like people who boast about not liking hip-hop. The world is huge, and filled with things to do and like: get with the times! After all, 93% of the world's companies use social networking. Why shouldn't you?

Every year, this world expands to introduce a new way of communicating: through brief text messages, then through photographs, then through a pin board, and who knows what will be next. Sometimes, it's true, it feels almost overwhelming—which is part of the reason why Missoni has united its artisanal tradition with its digital modernity by re-designing, rigorously by hand, the logos of all the social networks on which Missoni is present. Personally, I don’t use social networks to talk to the lovely Missoni staff in Milan’s office of Via Salvini: I'm lucky enough to live four streets away from them, and I'll just pop over for a coffee once in a while and communicate the old fashioned way, by talking with someone face-to-face.

Not that you'd probably care about that... which is why I might just go and tweet it right now.
