Missoni and Ornithology

Illustrator Caitlyn Carlisle has realized a series of designs inspired by the Women’s Fall 2014 line

It is quite known that there are strong ties between nature and Missoni, even though ornithology actually inspired the collection for Fall 2014.

The colours, patterns and shapes evoke Max Ernst’s mysterious bird women and can also be distinguished by the use of feathers from real birds like roosters, peacocks, pheasants and birds of paradise.

Illustrator Caitlyn Carlisle has thus chosen to honour the new Missoni collection with some designs inspired by ornithology that connect the Sumirago themes  to the animal that – according to her – inspired them though an interplay of perspectives and concepts.

Thus, the green, grey and red tones of the feathers are invigorated as they are combined with the most luscious blue, pink and orange shades in fantastical yet subdued images.
