Missoni Home unveils their newest project, Wallcoverings01

“Wallpaper has the power to transport you,” says Angela Missoni of the inspiration behind her newest project, Wallcoverings01, MissoniHome’s inaugural collection of wallpaper made in collaboration with Janneli&Volpi. The project is a first for Missoni: with over thirty years of interior design expertise under their belts, this is their first foray into wallpaper. “It creates an atmosphere,” explains the creative director, “It can take you somewhere else, even if you’re just at home.” The brightly-coloured collection features a photographic image of a knitted stitch in the iconic Missoni zig-zag, designed in the summer of 1969 by founder, Ottavio Missoni — a subtle nod to the era’s laid back atmosphere. The choice of imagery represents a bold and honest expression of the company’s aesthetic for MissoniHome’s first foray into wallpaper.

To inaugurate the new collaboration, creative director Angela Missoni designed an immersive installation at the Missoni showroom on Milan’s via Solferino. The title of the installation, playfully called ‘Take It Easy’, was chosen for the lightness of spirit that follows Missoni in all that it does. “We wanted to make a room that would inhabit our ethos,” Missoni explains of the wallpaper and installation’s inspiration, “a place that lets you carry the feeling away — to take it easy and take it with you.”

Visit Missoni’s showroom during Salone del Mobile at Via Solferino 9 to experience the installation firsthand.
