Missoni Moments Visions

Knit, Purl, Sow

Is it a plant? Is it a sweater? Or is it... a work of art? An exhibition brings nature and knitting together with astonishing results

Can knitting, the ancient craft that used to be a necessity and is now regarded as a form of meditation by its practitioners, be a form of art?

Here at Missoni Moments we take knitting very seriously, which is why we love Knit, Purl, Sow, a collection of knitted works of art by Tatyana Yanishevsky, Ruth Marshall and Santiago Venegas that was on show at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens at the beginning of the year.

These artists used knitting techniques to recreate a whole world of vegetation, lovingly reproduced in meticulous detail: plants and flowers of all shapes and sizes and in vivid colour. The knitting community will love this: we definitely did.
