A sweatshirt for Oxfam

Margherita Maccapani Missoni is participating in the Oxfam & Coin Italia project “Women’s circle for change” with a sweatshirt

This mini-collection of sweatshirts has been created by five key women in Italian fashion who wanted to put their art and talent at the service of Oxfam Italia’s commitment to end world poverty: Margherita was joined in this effort by Veronica Etro, Alberta Feretti, Rossella Jardini and Marina Spadafora.

The collection, which will be sold exclusively at all Coin stores starting 19 November, represents Italy’s first initiative for The Fashion Circle of Oxfam Italia, the group of Italian and international fashion designers committed to supporting women’s rights. This idea was made possible thanks to the partnership between Oxfam Italia and Coin, as part of the “Women’s Circle for Change” project.

The innovative communication and fundraising campaign focuses on women’s rights and their ability to built a better world, created with the aim of involving customers, designers and employees in order to mobilize resources and attention towards the work of Oxfam and help hundreds of thousands of people – mainly women and children – emerge from the problems of poverty.

The five unisex garments, retailing for 45 euros and available in three colours (cream, heather grey and black), represent each designer’s idea of an alliance of women fighting for women’s rights.

“Women’s rights and our joint collaboration have always been deep in my soul and that is why I’ve chosen to participate in this project. I decided to create a circle of hands holding each other, as a sign of solidarity and union. My collaborators and I had ourselves photographed in a circle, holding hands. The simple “I’ll give you a hand” is the starting point for building things together, for changing and helping each other.

Supporting Oxfam offers people the chance to preserve great wealth: for women around the world,” says Margherita.
